From water lilies to edelweiss, nearly 5000 plant species flourish in the Botanical Garden of the University of Fribourg.
Open free of charge every day of the year, the Botanical Garden of the Universtiy of Fribourg is a jewel of nature in the heart of the Pérolles district. Created in 1937 for the teaching of pharmacy and medicine, it has now become a real open-air museum, which welcomes nearly 200,000 visitors a year. On a surface area of 1.5 hectares, its living collections total 5,000 plant species, divided into 21 sectors and 3 greenhouses. Throughout the year, this 100% bilingual (FR-D) garden offers the general public a rich programme of conferences, workshops and exhibitions.
Visits whose theme is a general overview of the Garden are adapted to its seasonality and present more or less all the sectors of the Garden.
