The parade takes place in the Old Town of Fribourg
The Carnival of Fribourg (also called "Carnaval des Bolzes") has been filling the cobbled streets of the Old Town with colourful parades, Guggenmusik, laughter and fun over 50 years. In addition, more entertainment and a great party atmosphere are in the Old Town's bistros, bars and cellars.
The "Carnaval des Bolzes" takes place in the Old Town of Fribourg, at the Petit Saint-Jean Square.
FULL PROGRAM FROM SATURDAY 22ND TO TUESDAY 25TH FEBRUARY 2020:
SATURDAY, February 22nd:
From 1 pm - Guggens concerts at the Place Georges-Python
17h - 18h - Key handing-over at the Werkhof
8:30 pm - Night parade by lantern light. Departure from Place de la Palme, arrival at the Werkhof.
Then Bolze party night: cellars, restaurants and bars in the Auge district
SUNDAY, February 23rd:
10:30 am - 12 noon - Guggen concert at the Werkhof
2:39 pm - Departure of the Grand Cortège (Place J-F Reyff, Place du Petit-Saint-Jean, Middle Bridge, Planche-Inférieure, Planche-Supérieure, Saint-Jean Bridge,
Route de la Neuveville
16h45 - Killing of the Rababou at the Planche-Supérieure
From 8pm - Bolze party night: cellars, restaurants and bars in the Auge district
MONDAY, February 24th:
From 8.30 pm - Fancy dress competition and masked ball in the canteen, place du Petit-Saint-Jean (registration from 7 pm on site)
And Bolze party night: wine cellars, restaurants and bars in the Auge district
TUESDAY, February 25:
14h39 - Departure of the Children's Cortege from the J-F Reyff square.
4:30 pm - Killing of the Rababou of the children at the Planche-Supérieure
From 5 pm - Free children's snack at the Werkhof
At night: Bolze party night: cellars, restaurants and bars in the Auge district
The big parade is paying, the children's parade on Tuesdays is free.
